Dr. Priyadarshini Karve
In a career spanning 24 years, Dr. Priyadarshini Karve (Ph.D. Physics, University of Pune, 1998) has invented a number of environment friendly Biomass energy technologies. Since 2010, her work has focused on Urban Sustainability. Her contributions have been recognised nationally and internationally and she is involved in a number of national and international research, development and advocacy efforts focused on Sustainability and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation. She also teaches courses related to the same topics at various educational institutes.
He has volunteered for the Environment Conservation Movement and is a known Wildlife Photographer for the past 17 years. He has helped in taking actions against the illegal poaching of animals in areas of Chandoli National Garden, Koyana forest and Kaas plateau forest. He was instrumental in stopping the exploitation of snakes due to social cult in Shirala by filing a petition in the Mumbai High Court.
In 1995, a group of Photography enthusiasts came together and formed a group called Pratibimba. The group has clicked several photographs and has received various national and international awards for the same. Pratibimba organizes regular photography exhibitions every year and the members of this group are active in conservation of nature through the art of photography.
