Prof. Vijay Paranjpye (Lifetime Achievement)
He is an expert in rivers and water culture. He was a member of Government of Maharashtra Rajya Jal Arakhada committee. He was part of the National Expert Committee of Interlinking of Rivers appointed by Government of India. He has been invited an expert member to Bolivia, Costa Rica and South Africa. He has devoted his time for dams, river valleys, water resources and river basin management.
Chaitram Pawar (vasundhara Sanman)
: He is the leader of Baripada, a completely non-political down-to-earth barefoot man. A post-graduate in commerce, Chaitram turned down many offers of jobs and decided to stay at Baripada. He organized the villagers and thus began their journey of self-development. He has taken the name of Baripada village in Dhule district to international level by conserving forest of
about 1100. Baripada Gram Vikas Samitee (BGVS) is a unique organisation led by him is composed entirely of the villagers that it works for. He has been honoured nationally and internationally.
Gautam Pandey (Film Maker)
A National Award winner, he is one of India’s accomplished wildlife filmmakers. He studied film in Canada. He also conducts film workshops. He has produced and directed several episodes of the TV series Earth Matters. Over the last 5 years he has made films on important issues such as mangroves of India, high altitude wetlands, sustainable and net zero energy buildings and high altitude shepherds and impacts of climate.
Rahibai Soma Popre (Activist):
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research honoured her with the title ‘Seed Mother’. She is a self-made expert in the subjects of agro-biodiversity, landrace conservation and several innovative techniques in the cultivation of paddy crops. She has conserved and multiplied 48 indigenous landraces of 17 different crops including paddy, hyacinth bean, millets, pulses, and oilseeds.
Rakhi Chavan (Eco Journalist)
She is a graduate in Economics and Mass Communication from Nagpur. Forest, environment and wildlife are her areas of interest. Her stories such as story about destroying nest of NAVRANG bird , radio collaring for the forest department , global warming effect on wildlife, tiger migration, high temperature in Bhira, unpredictable and changing rainfall pattern. She has been felicitated with Satpuda Landscape Tiger Partnership ‘Conservation Hero Award 2016-2017’.
Dr. Madhukar Bachulkar (Green Teacher)
He is a plant taxonomist and currently is the Principle of Vijaysingh Yadav Science College at Peth-Wadegaon. He has written 25 research papers on plant taxonomy, medicinal plants and the environment. He always tries to educate his students about environment protection and conservation.
Multi G. P. Solid Waste Management Unit (Organisation)
It is a success story from rural area of Karnataka. Owner Janardana Hulgi is a visionary personality. He along with Satyanarayana created this zero waste plant near Hosapete, Karnataka. Here waste from 50 villages collected and segregated into 25 different categories. Earlier Koppal (one of the backward villages of Karnataka) became ODF with Janardana Hulgi’s initiative. He built more than 60000 toilets there.
