Dr. Vishwambhar Chaudhary
Born on 18th June 1971, Dr. Vishwambhar Choudhari is working in the field of Environment as a Professional-turned-Activist. In addition, he is also working as a Social Activist with Padmabhushan Anna Hajare. He has written many articles on environmental issues in number of leading newspapers and magazines. He leads the battle against Lavasa which is mainly the movement to save environment in the Western Ghats. He was active with WGEE Panel which submitted its report on Western Ghats to the MoEF.
A farmer at heart, he has revolutionized agriculture in Maharashtra with his contributions related to various methods of farming and the use of organic fertilizers. He has spread awareness among farmers about the use of new technology for better farming by arranging several study tours. He has also received an award from the Department of Agriculture, Maharashtra for his contribution to agriculture in ‘Palus’Taluka.
In the year 1974-75, he travelled across India to work for issues related to ‘Animals-Birds conservation’. In 2001, he started working for “People for Animals, Miraj” under the guidance of Maneka Gandhi and began his work for rehabilitation of animals. He has filed several cases against illegal poaching of animals and continues to spread awareness about such issues through the organization.
