Nisarga Samvad is an institute established by the residents, and students of schools and colleges of Sangli during the KirloskarVasundhara International Film Festival, Miraj in 2009. The Vedas have held the nature in the highest regard, directing followers to worship the sun, rivers, snakes, tigers, banyan tree and peepal tree, in other words, all the elements of nature. NisargaSamvad works with the intention of helping people to find balance between technology and nature so that this sacred place of the nature remains intact. It conducts environment related projects, workshops, picnics and lectures in order to spread the message.
Mr P.K. Ghanekar is known for dedicating his entire life to work on issues related to environment. As a college student of botany, he realised that ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj too had accorded special attention to environment and vegetation in his efforts to transform the society and culture of his time. Mr Ghanekar did his graduation from M.E.S College and University of Pune. His mentor, Prof. Hema Sane had told him that the study of botany could not be done in the classroom; one had to do it in the company of nature. He followed his mentor’s advice throughout his life and continues to do so at present, even though he is past 60 years of age. Mr Ghanekar served as the head of the botany department in AbasahebGarware College for 38 years. He travelled extensively throughout his teaching career.
