Mr Shekhar Gaikwad has been working for the conservation and cultivation of trees since last 15 years. He has cultivated over 70,000 trees in and around Nashik city. Going further, he has roped in young social workers to look after the conservation of the trees and spread awareness about their significance. He is engaged in creating awareness on conservation of sparrows. Encouraging people to hand over idols instead of immersing them in water bodies, and discouraging usage of plastic bags are other areas of his active interest.
Mr Ajit Barje is known for initiating a novel facet to the work on environment conservation. He is the convener and founder of a library named ‘Karavi’ which is home to books devoted to the topic of environment. He has reached out to many social bodies through this green library. He has been promoting books and journals on environmental causes through the library. He looks after the working of the renowned ‘British Council Liabrary’ in Nashik.
A Mechanical Engineer and an Entrepreneur by profession, Mr. Shrikant Ingalhalikar has always evinced active interest in environmental issues. He has been studying birds, animals, butterflies, snakes, frogs, vegetation and environment since 40 years. He participated in the study of a rare bird ‘Black Necked Crane’ in Ladakh. He went to USA to study the rehabilitation techniques for Eagles and Hawks and established a Raptor Centre to study these birds in Pune after returning. He helped the Pune office of Telco in developing a sanctuary for water birds.
